Two businesses in Winfield Township were robbed over the weekend, police said.

At about 4:06 p.m. Saturday, two male subjects entered La Posh Salon, 7853 E. 108th Ave., displayed a handgun and fled in a white Volkswagen Jetta after taking about $700, a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Departments states.

At about 12:30 p.m. Sunday, a white male robbed Pizza Hut, 10889 Randolph St., at gunpoint, and witnesses described him as one of the same men who robbed La Posh a day earlier, reported Winfield Town Marshal Dan Ball. The man was reportedly seen running through the parking lot of WiseWay Food World, 10839 Randolph St., after the robbery.

“We will be stepping up patrols in the business areas and assisting the Sheriff’s detectives in the investigation,” Ball stated. “Do not hesitate to call 911 if you see anyone or any vehicle that appears suspicious or out of place.”

Lake County sheriff’s police detectives are investigating both incidents.
