Police #believe armed #robberies in #Hagerstown and #Williamsport are #related

Authorities say they believe two armed robberies that occurred within about two hours of each other Sunday morning in Hagerstown and Williamsport are related.

The first robbery occurred at about 8:10 a.m. at the Family Dollar store at 921 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown, according to a Hagerstown Police Department spokesman.

An individual entered the store and displayed a handgun during the robbery, he said. He could not provide more details, but said detectives were working on the case.

The Williamsport robbery occurred shortly after 10 a.m. at a Subway sandwich shop at 8 Milestone Terrace, according to a Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

A black male wearing blue jeans, a black zip-up hoodie, and a black flat-brimmed ball cap entered the business and displayed a handgun, according to a news release. He fled from the shop with an undisclosed amount of money, the release said.

Police said the man was also wearing “distinct tennis shoes.”

The release said authorities believe the same person robbed both establishments.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact Detective Ward at the sheriff’s office at 240-313-2130.
